Dead Sea & Masada

By far one of the most popular tours in Israel!

As a day tour we will depart Tel Aviv or Jerusalem and embark on our drive to the lowest place on earth - the Dead Sea. On our way east will drive past Jerusalem, stop for a photo op at the Sea Level point (the Dead Sea is over 430 meters / almost 1500 feet below sea level) as we cover the region's fascinating geopolitics

Once at Masada our tour will start with a cable car ride up to the top of Masada, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As we walk around the site we will explore its breathtaking views and amazing story of defiance and bravery.

On this isolated desert fortress a small band of Jews defended themselves, to the death, against the odds and a vastly superior Roman army. Through the actions of the Jewish commander, a man by the name of Elazar Ben Yair, the story was immortalised and remembered to this day!

After exploring Masada we will head down to a Dead Sea beach to enjoy what is truly one of the most amazing experiences - floating on the Dead Sea, the lowest place and the lowest body of water on earth.

At 35% salt anything but floating is almost impossible.

Don't forget to bring bathing suits, flip flops and towels for the beach. You should have sun protection and a hat - in summer temperatures are usually over 40° Celsius / 105° Fahrenheit

Drink plenty of water!

A note on logistics: depending on the season and the number of tourists on site we often go to the Dead Sea beach first and only then to Masada. This way we beat the crowds!

Time permitting it could also be possible to visit one or two other sites such as a short walk up David's Canyon at Ein Gedi or the Baptismal Site on the Jordan River.
