Tour: Caesarea, Haifa & Acco
If you would like a beautiful tour along the Israeli coastline with the story of King Herod, Roman theatres, spectacular views from the Baháʼí Gardens and world heritage sites in Acco - this is the tour for you!
Like any of our tours this can be a day tour out of Tel Aviv, Haifa or any other location or part of a multi-day tour around Israel.
A short drive north of Tel Aviv is the coastal town of Caesarea where our tour will begin. At Caesarea we will meet the great megalomaniac King Herod, one of the most influential figures in the history of the region. During our walk on this national park we will hear about the classical Roman architecture as we see the hippodrome, theatre, amphiteatre, ancient harbour and much more.
From Caesarea we will continue our drive north along the coast to Haifa and the spectacular Baháʼí Gardens. Located on top of Mount Carmel and overlooking the Bay of Haifa many people compare it to San Francisco.
The Baháʼí Gardens in Haifa are the second holiest site in the world to the Baháʼ faith. From the top of the mountain and its amazing overview we will talk about the youngest Abrahamic Religion, the layout of the gardens and enjoy an overview of the Bay of Haifa area.
The ancient city of Acco (aka Acre) is just across the bay. This is a great place for lunch in the old Arab market! Afterwards will head out to the Knight's Halls, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to explore the story of crusader era Acco. To do this we actually go underground to see a huge fortress buried and forgotten for centuries. An amazing site!
Our tour of Acco will continue underground and above through its markets and Napoleonic era Walls and fortifications.
Time permitting we could continue further north right up to the border with Lebanon at Rosh HaNikra. A short cable car ride down towards the sea will bring us to amazing grottoes and caves and a fascinating story of the Israel - Lebanon relationship and border.
Another great day, beautiful scenery, history and great food - that's Israel in a nutshell.
See you soon!!
